We
are always looking for new
volunteers. Even if you only
have a few hours each week that
you could volunteer, the animals
would appreciate it. |
Volunteers help care for
animals' basic needs by picking
up and washing towels and bowls,
scooping litter pans, providing
fresh food and water,
poop-scooping, helping to clean
and dry runs, grooming, walking,
assisting the shelter in public
education, and socializing with
the animals. Volunteers also
greet and direct visitors, file
and help the staff in any way
they can. If you would like to
volunteer but don’t feel
comfortable working at the
shelter with the animals, there
are many opportunities to help
with animal transportation,
working at special events, etc.
How old do I have to be?
You
must be at least 18 years old.
If you are under 18 years of
age, (12 years old is the
minimum age for young
volunteers) your parent or other
responsible adult must also
become a volunteer and work with
you at the Shelter.
How do I become a Shelter
volunteer?
Call or visit the
Animal Shelter and ask for a
volunteer packet and application
or complete one on-line. Our
Volunteer Coordinator will call
and schedule a one hour
orientation with you. The
Shelter is open Monday - Friday,
10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and
Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Whether you want to come on a
regular basis, stop by when you
have some spare time, or help on
a special project, our animals
would love to have another
loving human around.
