The
Barren
River Animal Welfare Association is a
non-profit organization dedicated to
improving the welfare of homeless animals.
BRAWA organized in 1991 with the goal
of building an animal shelter in Barren
County. In July 1996, thanks to the hard
work of volunteers and the generosity of
individuals, businesses, and local
government, the dream became a reality when
the new shelter was completed. In October
2000, a building project with additional
space was completed for puppies and small
dogs including an outdoor play area. Also,
space was allotted for an isolation area and
storage. Once again a community of shelter
supporters made this addition possible. (
